The robot soccer started in 1980s. Today two international soccer federations (Robocup and FIRA Federation of International Robot soccer Association) organizes competitions in different categories from simulations on computers to microrobots and humanoid robots. Matches in MIROSOT (Micro Robot World Cup Soccer Tournament) are organized by FIRA. The teams (each of 3 robots) play on the playground of the size of half table tennis table. Robots are actually cubes with 7,5 cm sides and two wheels driven by electromotor. Microcomputer inside the robots regulates the wheels by commands from PC over the wireless communication. The camera over the playground sends the pictures to the computer which recognizes the position of robots and the ball and according to programmed strategy sends commands to its own robots. Each team has its own camera and the computer. Like in real soccer game the referee rules the game. At the beginning of the game and at every interruption the robots have to be placed in their positions according to the rules in respect of the interruption type. Whistle at the beginning tells the teams to start the programs on their computers. The robots than play autonomously until the interruption. During the match interference of the persons is prohibited and penalized.

The robot soccer is at its beginnings and yet it offers a wide range of possibilities for studies of artificial intelligence, control strategies, kinematics, dynamicsIt is expected that in 50 years the robots will play real soccer against humans just like they already play chess.
